This is a traditional German wooden incense smoker figurine. These figures are known as Rauchermann in German and are a form of folk art from the Ore Mountains region of Germany. It is designed to hold a small incense cone inside its hollow body. When the cone burns the smoke exits through the figures mouth creating the appearance it is smoking a pipe. The chimney sweep is considered a traditional symbol of luck. There are many different figures all representing a German character and they are an excellent item to collect if you like incense or German folk art.
